Central Christian College of Kansas proudly hosts the Chaney Lecture Series with guest speaker Dr. Phil Meadows on March 7-8. Meadows will be sharing a message on “Inside-Out Discipleship.”
Meadows is an ordained presbyter in the Irish Methodist Church. He was lecturer in theology and religious studies at Westminster College, Oxford, before spending six years as E. Stanley Jones Professor of Evangelism at Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary near Chicago. Since returning to the United Kingdom in 2004, he has been lecturer in missiology and Wesleyan studies at Cliff College, Derbyshire, and is currently Senior Research Fellow at the Nazarene Theological College in Manchester.
Meadows is past president of the Wesleyan Theological Society, and his research and publication interests combine theology, spirituality and discipleship in the Wesleyan tradition with the missionary challenges of contemporary culture. This is reflected in his recent book, “The Wesleyan DNA of Discipleship” (Grove, 2013) and “Remembering Our Baptism: Discipleship and Mission in the Wesleyan Spirit” (Discipleship Resources, forthcoming).
He is also a co-founder and director of the Inspire Movement, an international and ecumenical network seeking to resource mission-shaped discipleship in the leadership and life of the church.

The Chaney Bible Lectures have been established at Central Christian College by Dr. Richard and Beverly Spann of Wichita, Kansas, in honor of Albert and Edris Chaney. The Chaneys, Beverly Spann’s parents, were deeply committed to Christ into the sharing of His Word. They had a passion for the Lord and a desire to have the truths of the Word of God taught faithfully in their lifetime and for generations to come. The Chaneys dedicated their lives to the ministry of sharing the saving power of Christ and his Word. The Chaney Bible Lectures at Central Christian College have been commissioned as one in which the legacy of a love for God’s Word may be continued for years to come.
